Does anybody have any information on Boston Kennels and their Frenchies? www.bostonkennels.com/fb
I've been in touch with them several times already. We were supposed to go there yesterday to look at pups, but I cancelled our appointment. I'm just worried once we get there we will purchase a puppy no matter what. We've discussed the health issues. Would you wonderful people please go to the website and look at the puppies and tell me what you think of their looks. In the mean time, we are in touch with other breeders also who hope to have pups this summer.
Thank you all for your help!

I can't say much whether these are good breeders or not. But if you are afraid you are going to buy without really wanting I only have one good advise: don't sign any agreement, don't take any money or credit cards with you so they can't push you to buy a puppy.
You should only buy a puppy with a breeder if you feel totally comfortable with a breeder. If you do have any inclination of doubt: DON'T BUY A PUPPY THERE!
Good luck,

Here is a good link that has some questions you should be asking breeders (yes its a boxer site but the questions can be for any breed):
http://www.boxerworld.com/rescue/questions/
Also one thing to remember is that a good responsible breeder shouldn't be advertising their puppies. If this is a good breeder who has good quality dogs there should be a waiting list for puppies. Also the breeder should be asking *you* questions. You should have had to fill out a questionairre about your lifestyle. You should have been interviewed. Good breeders are really picky when it comes to placing their puppies. You should feel like your breeder is asking you more questions then you are asking them. ;)
Have you also considered a rescue Frenchie?

Hi Joyce,
If you like the look of the dog you choose, and you do not wish to show it, then only your opinion counts. Do you like the way the parents look? If your dog is female, she will probably look more like her mum (in shape), and vice versa with a male.
One thing that puzzled me about this particular breeder is that they said their puppies are "bred in Europe". Watch out for Russian puppy mill imports. That health thing they claim seems kind of odd - there is lots of healthy stock in Canada and the States.
Have you checked the French Bulldog Club of America?

Email some of their members and see if they have heard of this particular kennel.
I hope that helps!
~ Brooke.

ps. My pup (pictured left with Whiteout all over her face!) has a bent ear from being pressed up against the womb, so we can't show her. But she's still really cute and healthy. Don't worry too much about aesthetic if you don't want to show. These little "imperfections" add character, and can sometimes knock a bit off the price...we call Luna our "bargain bin dog" ;)

Joyce, you posted the same question last week on the Yahoo Frogdoggers message board. Charlotte Creely, who is the founder and director of the French Bulldog Rescue Network, and who lives in Boston, and who has dealt with Boston Kennels in the past, posted the following reply to your inquiry:
"I know Irina Diresh very well!* She is a Russian living now just outside of Boston MA with her husband and daughter, she is a dentist, she imports dogs from Lithuania and Russa - Frenchies, Bulldogs, Bull Terriers, and Toy Spaniels at last count.* She also breeds some of her own Frenchies.* She is held in low regard here*for 1) her importing, 2) the inferior quality*of her dogs, and 3) the poor health and condition of her dogs.* She has had several instances of parvo - I know this from area vets of my acquaintance. Not someone you want to do business with."
Having spent the last three weeks reviewing all the websites of all the FB breeders in America, and reading as much as I can to distinguish the reputable breeders, I was alread suspicious of Boston Kennels.
Charlotte's post convinced me, and should have convinced you to avoid dealing with them. I don't understand your purpose in posting to this board.

Thank you all for guiding us away from Boston Kennels. They ARE imports from Russia! We have'nt gotten many straight answers from her. We are looking all over the east coast and will drive most of the east coast to pick up our puppy! Thank you all for your expertise and I will let you know how we are making out!

A friend of mine had this to say about the Boston kennel:
"tell them to write to Charlotte Creeley at cccpups@aol.com She can tell them
all about this horror. the dogs are russian imports; aggressive and sick."
Charlotte Creeley (if you don't already know) runs the French Bulldog Rescue Organization. I hope this information helps you.

Hello Cajun Dave,
I was the one who adviced Joyce to go to Yahoo Frogdoggers. I knew that there was a lot of know how there :) . I must admit that I am glad that she has placed the question here also.
This board is visited by many who are in search of a FB puppy and this kind of information is what many future owners would want to know.
I'd like to thank you for sharing this information with us :)

Thanks Roosje. I apologize if I sounded a little cross with Joyce (I was). As someone who's soon to be in the market for a Frenchie, I realize how easily it is to be enticed by those cute puppy faces on the internet. And in researching, I've also come to be convinced how important it is to deal with a reputable breeder and avoid puppy mills and backyard breeders.
Charlotte Creely is as authoritative an expert on Frenchies in this area as you'll find, and if she says "Don't deal with this breeder," then she means it.
I'm happy that Joyce strenghtened her resolve to avoid Boston Kennels, and I wish her success and happiness in finding a healthy FB to bring into her home.
As for myself, I'm in the middle of a move to Florida, so I'll have to wait at least a year to have my own dog. (SIGH). In the meantime, I enjoy visiting with the kind folks on this board and delighting in the antics of your adorable dogs.
Thanks for sharing.

I will forever be greatful to all of you for your imput on Boston Kennels. I'm sorry if I seemed a little, (stubborn). You see, we have German Shepherd Dogs. I have owned both the "German working line" of GSD's and the "American Show Line" GSD's. Yes, they are bred totally differently, and one badmouths the other. I was imagining this being the difference between the Europeen line and the show line of French Bulldogs. We are taking the time to find ourselves a healthy pup and it WON'T be from Boston Kennels! Thank you all for any imput you have contributed, We are still here listining!
