Hi,
I am thinking of getting a French Bulldog, and am trying to find out as much as I can about them.
My primary concern is leaving the dog during the day. I have to work, and wondered how they take being left for 8-9 hours. Can anyone help me with this?

hi there!! Frenchies are companion doggies no doubt about it. as Roosje said, 8-9 hours is a very long time for a frenchie to be alone..however...my husband and i both work during the day and we have someone come (lucky for us both our parents only live a few miles away) to play with and walk biggie everyday. Until I find a job that I can bring my dog to or better yet until I start working out of the home biggie will always have at the very least an hour visit during the day while mommy and daddy are at work plus his kitty brother and sister. Anyone who has met him will tell you that he is one happy pup:-) Granted, Biggie would rather have us home and lord knows i would rather be there with him but for now it is not possible so we do the best we can to keep our little man happy. I guess my point is that if you really want to make it work you probably can with the help of friends and family but that 8-9 hours alone in my opinion is too long and might make for a very unhappy pup.
your long winded frenchie friend:-)

I would agree that 8-9 hours is a long time for most puppies to be alone, especially a Frenchie. I have two youngFrenchies and one senior Boston who are in the house alone during the day. Fortunately they seem to mostly sleep while we are gone. They prefer an audience for their mischievious antics and wait until we get home. Once we are home...watch out....the play begins and goes non stop for several hours. :p
