Hello People of Bulldogworld,
I was just curious about where your dogs sleep at night: the crate? A dog bed? The sofa? Your bed? A doggie castle made of beef jerky?
Has anyone transitioned from a crate to a more aesthetically pleasing dog bed? The crate is such an eyesore! It's harshing my mellow.
And another thing: does anybody have a good idea re: where to store shedding, goopy tennis balls and the slobbery pelts of dead stuffed animals? I need a solution that is durable, attractive and accesible to the god, I mean, the dog.

Yep, Henri sleeps in a dog bed. It's just a standard plush oval shaped bed. Sometimes he's got a couple of cats in there to keep him warm, but mostly he's happy enough curled up in there on his own. I don't even own a crate any more.
Getting him to use it was easy. LOL - his alternatives were the dog bed or the floor. Took him all of two seconds to choose the bed ;)

Lamont sleeps in the bed with us BUT …we do have a big round “doggie pillow” on every floor and, of course, the “Chateau” that is housed in my husband’s art studio.
Since Lamont spends the majority of his day in the studio, it made sense for him to have it housed in there.

Now Brooke, I know everyone doesn’t have access to a craftsman who can build a luxury doghouse. I got lucky! But I did see some really cute ones (fairly inexpensive) on, believe it or not, amazon.com . Check it out.
As for the toy remnants … we use an old milk crate.

Eti sleeps with me at night- it was a 1 year birthday/graduation present-no more crate-it was donated to a friend with a new pup. During the day-he has a nepalese stool which he picked out himself at the Chelsea Flea market < http://www.flickr.com/photos/manhattanchien/12094897/ >.
He hopped right on it and laid down. The stall owner convinced me that he must know it from a previous life. He also has a rag basket <http://www.nellieboots.com/shopbasketlargeoval.htm > next to my computer chair.

If Luna is very nice, you might want to get her a Budda Bag (http://www.buddabag.com/) :D

Hello everyone ,
Mia has been sleeping in her crate since we got her. 1st with the door shut, then we started leaving it open and closed off the kitchen . As of 2 days ago she began having nightime access to the entire downstairs and with that the couches . She loves sleeping on the couch..... So much so we had to buy special blankets to cover them with.
I agree the crate is an eye sore.. that is why MIA will soon be getting her first BIG GIRL bed. appicon
I LOVE that Boodah bed that was posted .
About those toys . They sell cute little doggie toy boxes. They are low enough to the ground where the dog can still reach his/ her toys ( if the cover is off )

Phoebe has slept in the bed with us since she was potty trained. We enjoy having her snuggle up with us and she is always happy to oblige :D .
I have never owned a dog crate and wouldn't start now.

Molly sleeps in our bed - right in the middle of both of us with her head on either one of our pillows!

Stella sleeps with me or my parents .. and when she is just laying around the house she has one of those big round beds with cushioning inside .. she loves it !!! She loves to think she can dig holes in it and barks like crazy but she can't do it LOL!!!! The only bad thing about her sleeping in the bed is that you have to fall asleep before she does otherwise forget about sleeping .... she snores louder than any man... is that common with your frenchie ?

Allie and Baxter own a comfortable king size bed that they share with us.:) We have a few doggy beds around the house which they sometimes use to nap, but they prefer to nap up on top of the back cushions of our couches (like cats!).
We keep their toys in a large plastic bin. It's funny to watch them digging through their toys. They always appear as though they know exactly which toy they're looking for!

I love these stories! A "muslim" lining! That slays me. I picture a chintz fabric, but instead of little outdoorsey scenes, it's little scenes of mosques and ladies that look like blobs with only their eyes showing.
I know what you mean about the toy box digging and 'knowing what they're looking for'. Luna does that too! And they trot to the toy box with such purpose in their step. "Kibbles and Bits! Kibbles and Bits!"
I love the basket with the lining idea... can I "borrow" it?
- Brooke.
