This never happened with my boxer Bismarck but with Athlon it is pretty common (always, I should say): he has food incrusted into his nose. I can hardly remove it using oil. Do you put something on your dog's nose before giving food or is it just Athlon that eats in a dirty way? (he's always hungry).
You can see a photo at http://www.boxerworld.com/photo/data/506/15DSCN0030.JPG?1509
I will try to find a close up of his nose.

i just love that picture! the close ups are the best!!! Biggie does not have the food on the/in the nose problem but his nose does get very dry. We use a dab of bag balm to keep it moist..

No, it doesn't hurt him at all, it's just food as you wrote.
He eats home made food consisting in cooked beef mixed with rice and carrots. Wiping his nose helps right after he eats helps but I find strange this kind of things happen to him. If I feed him with commercial dry food, which I don't as he get some allergies, his nose stay clean. Athlon is a 4 legged stomach, he will always eats like if he hasn't gotten any food for days ;)

What if before he eats you put on his nose a little bit of vaseline (petroleum jelly)? This way he is all slicked up and then after he is done you could wipe it away. :D

I love this quote & it fits my Madison to a T. He also has the same problem with his nose. Yes, wiping right after eating helps. I think that some of Madison's problem (and pardon the graphic detalis) comes from the fact that he has a runny nose a lot of the time. His nose drains when he eats & mixes with the food with dries on his nose. I just try to be vigilant about cleaning it & sometimes it is quite a battle.

Thank! I will try to clean his nose completely when he gets his bath tomorrow and then will put some vaseline to see if it helps.
