Hi everyone! Glad to be here. We have 3 German Shepherd Dogs, which I used to show in Breed and Obedience, and we had 2 litters. They are now retired to major couch potatoes. My husband and I watch alot of shows on Animal Planet, and my husband has totally fallen for the Frenchie! I bought him a stuffed one for Christmas. This one sleeps in our bed between the two of us! But the stuffed one just won't do. My husband has been e-mailing breeders and I have been doing alot of research on the breed on line. We are sure learning alot! It appears the Frenchie is alot like my husband. Neither one can live without air conditioning, and they both snore. :) I think they are made for each other! Anyway, can anyone give us any tips on what to look for? I also have another question. What is the difference between the European breeding and what I'm thinking is the American show line?

Any help is so appreciated! Sorry this is so long!

I would recommend that you stay away from Russian import Frenchies. These pups are advertised widely here in the US and can be acquired cheaply. Everything that I have learned tells me that these dogs don't have good temperaments. My two Frenchies have European connections (Hungary, France ) and the US and they are solid, healthy dogs with great dispositions. Keep doing your homework and ask questions.

Thank you both so much! We are in touch with a breeder of European imports, she is a little less than 2 hours from us. Can you guys tell me what clearances these parents should have? Maybe, hips, eyes, elbows etc? We are waiting for her Vet's phone number. (hopefully we'll hear back from her).

Thanks for everything!
