This is such an informative website-you all have such a great wealth of knowledge about Frenchies. My wife is the member of this website. I'm just browsing and had a quick question that I was hoping that you could help me out with. What do you find is the best combination of food for your Frenchie? I'm looking to keep my little guy around for awhile, and would like to feed him the best food possible.

Thank you for your help.

Joel

Hi Joel. I'm sure you will get lots of info here about food. I have chosen to feed my two Wellness kibble (lamb) and will mix in pieces of cooked chicken or meat. They seem to like it, have beautiful coats, etc. For snacks I give them Wellness biscuits...they like the yogurt/apples/bananna flavor and also the peanut flavor. They also enjoy fresh apple, carrot and watermellon.

Joel,

Dari gets fed Bravo raw diet.. Raw meat and bones.Yes, RAW meat and bones.

I do not (as many on this site) use commercial dog food.I feed her a breed appropriate raw diet .

Simply put: dogs are not meant to eat grain. They have no molars and if they were in the wild would not eat grain ..Commercial dog food is made with corn and grain.

So, I follow the teachings of Dr Ian Billinghurst and K Schultz(among others)and feed my girl a raw diet..

For snacks she gets Triumph biscuits; apples and various fruits.

Her Vet is amazed at the excellent blood tests; beautiful teeth and gums and coat.. She is five and a half.

I feed raw - for both dogs and cats and have been doing so for the thirty years or so that I've been feeding animals (which actually means I grew up feeding that way).

I don't feed pre-made raw diets. Doesn't mean that some of them aren't good, but I've been doing my own for a lot longer than they've been around and I'm too lazy to change now ;)

My dogs eat raw in the mornings (mainly chicken wings) and home cooked meals at night. (I don't recommend doing that - I haven't had a decent meal since I started cooking for them. I just don't have the time or energy... :p ) I expect them to be on 100% raw very soon... They also get fruits, vegetables, raw eggs (once or twice per week maximum) and plain yogurt.
