Hi all.
I will be a brand new frenchie owner in 1 week. I hope you can see her picture in my profile as I am new at this. My son will be naming her but we have it narrowed down to a few choices. Let me know what you think.
1.Shayna. It means beautiful in Yiddish
2.Lola. strong woman in Spanish
3. Scarlet. The name of Cesar Millan, the Dog whisperer's frenchie and we love him
4. Moxie. a combo of my girls names Roxie a Golden who passed 3 summers ago and Maddie my 6 year old Bullmastiff girl.
So let's hear it!!
What do you like. I need some help.
Thanks,
Alyson the newbie :D

Hi all,
Thanks for all the responses so far. In terms of what we would call her on a daily basis if we chose Shayna it would either be just Shayna, Shay or my son likes to yell out SHANEY and see what it sounds like. We would only use Shayna Punim or Shayna Maidel if we were being formal as in "what would you like for Hannukah this year my little Shayna Punim."
I like Moxie because I have a feeling she is going to have alot of it! It also sounds great when you yell it out.
Lola is super cause it reminds me of The Kinks song and The copacabana by Barry Manilow but Lola is Very popular...maybe too popular.
Scarlet is beautiful but doesn't sound as nice when you yell it out and I would not want to end up calling her Scar. Ick.
Once again...it is the decision of an 11 year old boy..I must just wait and see.
thanks,
A

If there was ever a breed that could justify being called Moxie its the Frenchies.

If your dog is anything like mine, I think Moxie would be a great name. Most Frenchie's I know have a lot of Moxie. :)

We were getting a girl but fell for a boy in the end
I like Lola (same as Jack Osbournes bulldog)
We picked 3 names Ruby, Flo, & Martha but ended up with a boy

I like the sound of Moxie! What a perfect name for a Frenchie. :)
My dogs will (always?) have old, finnish names - I figured that I just need to have those names as I don't live in my home country. Elsi and Iida are names that my g-parents generation were given. My b.f. wanted to name Elsi "Bour-Bour"... Well, now it's one of her nicknames.

Hi all,
The little nameless one will be here tomorrow night! We are just getting so excited! When I told the breeder our 4 name choices she said she thought she was a "Moxie". We will wait to meet her and hopefully she will let us know who she is. We decided if we could not agree we would let her decide her own name. We will use 4 different little biscuits each representing a name, give them a big throw across the yard and see which one she puts her mouth on first. Then she will choose her own destiny!
We will let you know!

So,
We picked up our Frenchie girl last night at the airport and she is just amazing. So precious! The morning we were to get her we picked a wild card name. We did not think it would fit but I love Tennessee William's Streetcar Named Desire and my Bullmastiff is from a kennel Called Desire. So we thought of Stella. As in "STELLA....STELLA!!!!!!!"
When we brought her home she looked like a Lola. Or a Stella. Maybe a Lola. No, Stella. So we let her choose. 2 different cookies. 2 corners of the room and she went for the Stella cookie. So....Stella it is. And stella is in her crate screaming for me right now so off I go.
Pictures to follow soon.
Thanks all,
A
