WOW!! You guys weren't kidding...I read every thread here and Boxer World about feeding raw, and decided to start George and Bailey (6 yo Boxer) on Bravo Chicken&Veggie. Well, George LOVED it!! Bailey on the otherhand is an interesting story. She sniffed, looked at George devouring his meal, back at her bowl...then she nudged it away with her head. Then her mouth got EXTREMELY, um...frothy? Drooling...I have NEVER seen her do that. Could she have gotten grossed out a little by it? I know I was!! Freaked me out a bit... we pulled ourselves together, I cleaned her up and put down her regular Royal Canin...she wolfed it down. So.. now I have 10lbs of frozen "meat tubes" in the freezer for 9 lbs of puppy. Who, by the way...licked his bowl clean in about 30 seconds.
My husband is going to be quite surprised when he looks in the freezer.
Thanks for all the great info. My first thought of raw creeped me out a little, however I'm quite impressed. George is asleep at my feet as I type this...he seems quite content.
One more thing then I'll stop, the retailer suggested I supplement George with Solid Gold Seameal, so I purchased it. Then I read about supplements...I believe it was Fran(?) can't remember...supplements are unnecessary??? Any imput. (I left the supplement out)
Thanks,
Nichole & a very happy George!

Bravo for George!
Hunger is the best way to get an unwilling dog to eat, btw :)
I use a suppliment with the raw - omega 3-6-9 oils with added vitamins. What is this Solid Gold product?

It is a mineral & vitamin supp for " all classes of horses, dogs, and cats" given in appropriate doses respectfully..
um...I had never heard of it. I guess Solid Gold has numerous product, including food(pets)...The retailer seemed to say a lot of the same things I've read on this site, and seemed to be familiar with the breed, so I trusted. Who knows? He did mention that corn, wheats, etc. were bad for allergies. This is a yeast-free formula made with flax seed meal and dried Seaweed meal, including B12.
I don't really want to give the little man anything he can do without...so, I'm continuing to research.
And on an unrelated topic, Brooke...are you familiar with Bellingham WA. ?
2nd unrelated topic, anyone familiar with a missing Frenchie named Solana in LaJolla CA? There was a poster in the window of the feed store...Are her owners members of FBW?

Yes, I am familiar with Bellingham - I have a relative there and sometimes I just go to shop and see what you Yanks are up to ;) Why do you ask?
I would feed the Solid Gold stuff – kelp is a really good mineral for dogs (and people), or so I've heard from many many people. Consider an Omega 3-6-9 oil, too. My dog AND my husband have their oils in the morning together (aww, how cute!) and they both are lean with great muscle tone. I gotta get on that wagon. Too bad it tastes so gross.

That's too funny...lean & muscular...i'm ordering that for myself now!! George too! Seriously, I am! I'll come up with some interesting way of taking it..
My husband is a pilot for U.S. Customs, there is an office there...we've toyed with the idea of relocating there. I love the weather here in San Diego, but it looks so BEAUTIFUL there, real estate ia another obvious!! What I paid for a home here, I could live QUITE comfortbly there...I checked out the local real estate ;)

Anybody from the South or East will always say how beautiful and clean the Northwest seems, like some kind of nirvana. But the reality of this climate is that it's grey and rainy for 10 months of the year.
And Bellingham is (what I would consider) a small town. If you like eating out, all walks of life & interesting culteral events, this is not the place for you. But if you want to raise a family, take the dog for a hike or read a book and curl up, Bellingham is great.
I would live in Seattle, if I had the choice between the 2. It's in its own little cool and laid-back bubble where you can have all of the above (except the sun).

Seattle it is!!! I'm not having it...I NEED culture and GOOD FOOD....I can always fly to SD for some sunshine...especially with the money I'll save in real estate..
