In the book ''The Ultimate Diet'' it recomends 1 day of just water, and No food. Does anyone do this? I am a bit skeptical about not feeding a dog for a whole day. Any thoughts on this?

I have fasted in the past, and have read quite a lot on the subject, but it is not for everyone. I've never heard of fasting for dogs. Is the person who wrote "The Ultimate Diet" a vet? Or licensed in some way?
I don't know why anyone would subject that on their dog. IMO the only time a dog shouldn't eat is when he/she is sick and doesn't feel like it.

I don't fast my dog deliberately. BUT if he doesn't want to eat a meal, or two or three meals even, then I don't worry about it. I just pick it up and try again at the next meal time. Usually there's a reason - sometimes just heat, occassionally that I've fed too much fat or bone in recent meals. It's no big deal - but if the dog doesn't want to eat, then I don't think it's wise to try to tempt him.

Think I am going to steer away from fasting, although it sounds like it makes sense,I don't know if I have it in my heart not to feed a hungry dog, especially with those cute faces they can make at us.
