I have been considering the purchase of a French Bulldog for our family. I have done some research online and now I want to be sure our lifestyle would fit well with this fella.
My husband works 8 hrs. per day, I am home currently but getting ready to go back to work 8 hrs. per day. It will be my husband and I most of the time, we have two daughters and a 4.5 yr. old grandson who visit and will be interacting with the dog.
The dog is important to me and my grandson is too, it is a must that our grandson and the little bulldog get along well. Our grandson is well behaved. I'm concerned about properly house training the dog for the hours given above, and the interaction between the dog and my grandson. I'm hoping I can spend time with the pup house training him and storing him in a large pet carrier while I will be at work.
The pup/dog would then get good attention and play time once I am home from work. I look forward to reading your input on this and hearing any questions you may have.
Thank you

I agree with Roosje in that a Frenchie puppy...like any puppy really needs lots of attention, socialization and training the first few months. Although my husband and I both work, his schedule is very flexable and Abby (our first FBD) was only left alone for just a few hours a day. We acquired a male Frenchie a few months ago and now we don't worry when they are left alone for extended hours, as they have themselves for company. They both took a long time and alot of patience potty training. :( Frenchies can really try ones patience in this respect. They are very stubborn little dogs but once you survive the potty training, life is wonderful and I now thank my lucky stars that I have the privelege of owning two of these very special dogs. Like Roosje also said...they can be rough players. I can remember many times watching Abby play with our young nephew and she liked to take him to the ground and smother him with kisses. She was very gentle but we did watch to make sure she didn't get carried away. I will say this....I have never laughed more since bringing Abby and Ferris into our home.
