Hi Everyone..
Well, here's my Frenchie update as far as today. I took her back to the Dr. yesterday.Over a 103 degree temp. We started her on Amoxicillin. He said it looks to him that now a bacterial infection has set it ( thanks to the Coccidia), so that seems to be what we're fighting now. I've been giving her Honey Water by syringe, all the time. She wont drink on her own, but she does seem to like it and does keep it down. I pan boiled some chicken breast and chopped it up and steamed some rice. I've been offering her a mixture of that so she'll eat something, and she has been eating that.
she likes to pick out the chicken first. I took her temp this morn and it was 102 degrees. So thats a little better than yesterday.I worry the Amoxicillin is working fast enough. I was thinking about going over to the Farm Supply and buying some Injectable Penicillin, And giving her shot of that. A Vet I knew years ago always use to say that you need to get in a give a heavy initial does right from the start, and hit this stuff hard. His approach was much more aggressive than Dr. Jon's.Dr. Jon is more carefull in his approach.
The Kennel I got her from was spotless, and so was they're home. The dogs were clean, No feces anywhere.Thats why I was sooo shocked when this happened. He Did use the same exercise area fro the puppies that he used for the adults. It was blocks about a 20x20 ft. area. And clean. I've been in touch with them thru email. All thay say is " we're sorry your puppy is sick".They tell me her littermates are fine.Believe it or not.I'm really worried about her,I just dont know if she's going to make it or not.I want to thank you for your concern,I'll keep you enformed...
Thanks,Miss Donna and My Little Frenchie.

Hi Miss Donna,

Have you given her any watermelon? If you can, it would keep her from getting dehydrated as the fruit is almost all water. Dogs can go without food for a couple of days, but they cannot go without water.

We on the board are worried about your baby girl, so keep us posted.

By the way, I have a idea for her name........."Belle".........she is Snoopy's sister and I think it would be a cute name for your little black and white baby girl!!

MissDonna,
You go after the people that you got your pup from.. I honestly do NOT believe that her littermates are fine,,Yes, I am a skeptic.
They should be on the phone with you;checking to see what her progress is.

This is a terrible time for you. One that should be full of joy and love is frought with pain and fear. Add to it the fact that these people (seemingly) are not giving you any support..

Hopefully, I am wrong and they will come thru..But it does not sound like it.

And the most important thing of all is that your pup pulls thru..

Coccidia can come from anywhere.

What upsets me, is the apparent lack of concern of the people you got your pup from . Or it can be how I read things..
But it appears that your pup came to you in bad health. And if she did, the people that sold her to you IMO, should be allot more concerned then they appear to be.

Are they communicating with you?Are they making any attempt to help you with the situation; emotionally /financially?Or are they just saying "Sorry the pup is sick? and leaving it at that?

Like I said, I am a skeptic..and I hope I am reading this wrong...

So sorry about your baby, but hopefully she will pull through this. Another thing you could do also is give her baby pedialyte. It has the electrolites in it, and will help her mintain her strength. I have often used it in the place of water on sick puppies.

Have you asked your vet about a shot of penicillin for a jump start? That would be a good idea, and is often done. However I would ask him first since she is on the amoxicillin also. At least she appears to be eating some, so that is one less problem. But the biggest issue here as everyone has said is the fluids. She has to have those.

I have to agree with the others on the breeder. It appears as though they have a severe lack of concern for your puppy, I agree with the others also, that while cociddi can come from anywhere, it is most likely it came from there. There lack of concern also tells me they probably know it did.

Please keep us updated, and our prayers are with you. God bless you and your baby and hope she gets better fast. Just keep the fluids in her, anyway you can, and keep us updated. We are all very concerned about her.

She posted her thread the same day she welcomed Tank and we haven't heard since :(. I happen to take what people post very seriously so I am quite worried about this pup :(. I wish she could just check back and give us an update and the fact that she hasen't done that yet has me a bit nervous. I'm praying all is well with this sweet baby.

Sadly, I was thinking the same thing Judy. Hope her lack of response does not mean things have turned worse. They always say "no news is good news". I sure hope and pray that is the case here. I to would feel a whole lot better if she would check in and let us know how things are going.

Thanks for trying to follow up, Judy. This breed has such a great following and we all share sincere concern with medical issues. Hope she posts soon and with good news.
